This is our thirteenth issue!

The fear of this number exists in many cultures and civilisations, both long gone and present.

An old Viking myth tells a story of a dinner prepared by twelve gods in Valhalla (Norse heaven). The evil Loki came to the dinner party uninvited. Loki was the reason Hoder, the blind god of darkness, killed Balder, the god of joy and pleasure by a mistletoe dart, which brought misfortune to the whole country. Judas, the apostle to betray Jesus, was also the thirteenth guest at the last supper, while old tales speak of the witches who gathered in the groups of twelve with the Devil himself as the thirteenth member.

Things have not changed much since. Don’t be surprised if there is no room 13 in your hotel. More than 80% of skyscrapers don’t have the thirteenth floor, and a lot of airports don’t have runway no. 13. In Florence, houses between numbers 12 and 14 are marked 12,5! But, it wouldn’t be appropriate to number this issue 12,5, and, anyway, we are not that superstitious. We have given our best to make this issue in the best possible way and in that way neutralise eventual bad influence of this number.
